The saga surrounding an illegal immigrant that raped a 10-year-old and forced her to travel across state lines to have an abortion got more intriguing this week.
According to Telemundo, the mother interviewed by Maria Vargas-Pion says that the child is fine and that everything they are saying about the rapist Gerson Flores “is a lie.” Watch.
The reporter visited the Columbus, Ohio, home of the rape victim and spoke to her mother on Wednesday. The woman did not fully open her door but spoke to Vargas-Pion and defended the girl’s rapist in Spanish. She said later confirmed in the interview that she was the girl’s mother.
“Did the girl live here as well?” Vargas-Pion asked.
The mother responded, “Yes, but she’s fine.”
She then strangely said, “Everything that they’re saying against him is a lie.”
Fuentes confessed to having “vaginal contact” with the girl on two separate occasions. The mother said that she had not filed charges.
It’s now come out that a 10-year-old girl in Ohio, who Biden discussed in a speech, was raped by an illegal immigrant from Guatemala. Her story went viral because she was forced to travel to Indiana to receive an abortion. According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), his name is Gerson Fuentes and he will be handed over for removal proceedings.
The story was originally reported by the Columbus Dispatch and said that Fuentes, 27, confessed to raping a child on at least two occasions. He has now been charged with rape. The police were told the girl was pregnant when Franklin County Children Services made a referral to the police on June 22. According to Detective Jeffrey Huh, the girl had a medical abortion in Indianapolis.
Fuentes was handed down a $2 million bond and is currently being held in Franklin County jail.
Attorney General Dave Yost called the rapist a “monster” and said he was glad that “Columbus police took him off the street, according to WBNS News.
Fuentes had lived in Columbus for seven years and worked at a cafe.
This story now confirms the story that was originally reported in the Indianapolis Star on July 1 that contained one source of the 10-year-old victim. Next News Network reported that there was several holes in the story at the time, but those have been filled.

At the time, the Washington Post was even labeling the story “very difficult” to verify. Journalist Glenn Kessler was not able to find any other evidence that the story was real besides the single source in the article.
“The only source cited for the anecdote was Bernard. She’s on the record, but there is no indication that the newspaper made other attempts to confirm her account,” Kessler added.
Ohio’s Governor also said they were “unaware of any specific case that met the claims” at the time and AG Yost questioned the veracity of it at the time. He also said that the girl would have been able to get an abortion in the state. They obviously have the story now.
Biden discussed the moment in a viral clip during a speech at the signing of an executive order, titled the Protecting Access to Reproductive Health Care Services, aiming to protect abortion access to drugs and attorneys so that people can get abortions in states where it has become illegal.
“This isn’t some imagined horror; it is already happening. Just last week, it was reported that a 10-year-old girl was a rape victim – 10 years old – and she was forced to have to travel out of state to Indiana to seek to terminate the pregnancy and maybe save her life,” Biden said.
