Some Democrats have begun to see how ridiculous the far left in their party is. Even some of the most left-leaning people are starting to see the light. One, in particular, is leaving a liberal organization to join a conservative one.

Ruy Teixeira is “one of Washington’s most prominent left-leaning think-tank scholars, reports Politico. He has been a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress and his most recent book is titled, The Optimistic Leftist: Why the 21st Century Will Be Better Than You Think.

As of August 1, however, he will be leaving the Center for American Progress (CAP) and moving to The American Enterprise Institute. AEI is commonly associated with conservatism and neoconservatism.

Teixeira told Politico that his policy views haven’t changed but that the way progressive organizations have become “sends me running screaming from the left.”

He also has described CAP saying, “It’s just cloud cuckoo land. The fact that nobody is willing to call b—, it just freaks me out.”

Regarding CAP and why he is leaving, he says “It’s just the case that at CAP, like almost any other left think tank you can think of, it’s become very hard to have a conversation about race and gender and trans issues, even crime and immigration. You know, ‘How should the left handle these?’ There’s a default assumption about how you’re supposed to talk about these things, even the language. There’s a real chilling effect on all of these organizations, and I think it’s had an effect on CAP as well.”

Teixeira explained that once he tried to start what he called the Bobby Kennedy Project. It would have looked at ways to appeal to the black and white working class together but, he says, it went nowhere. “People were leery of talking about the white working class, as if it was de facto racist … You’re supposed to do stuff that’s funded, and you can’t get stuff funded if the institution isn’t behind you.”

Have you seen the new images of the universe from the Webb telescope? They are amazing!

It’s no wonder some Democrats are running from the far left. Teixeira’s experience is evident everywhere we look, with how the far left blame everything on racism, transphobia or some other perceived slight. It is “cuckoo land” as Teixeria said. Do you think more Democrats will start to reject the far-left’s way of thinking?
