Chicago has finally had enough of illegal immigrants. Lori Lightfoot is fed up with Texas Governor Greg Abott bussing them to her city and she is heading to DC to come up with a plan to deal with it.
It looks like Greg Abbott’s plan worked!
According to The Washington Examiner. Lori Lightfoot said she will meet with Biden administration officials about migrants arriving from Mexico.
She told reporters during a press conference, “I’m going to Washington later this week and going to be sitting down with some of the folks to describe for them what the conditions are on the ground here in Chicago, but also make sure that federal help is coming.”
She’s made it clear on more than one occasion that she’s not happy with the busloads of illegal immigrants sent to her city by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. She even went so far as to label him a “racist” and a “bad Christian.”
She told reporters, however, that she would “love to speak with Gov. Abbott.”

Abbott tweeted late Monday, “Mayor Lightfoot is attacking Texas instead of addressing the real cause of the border crisis: Joe Biden. His inaction at our border is putting the lives of Texans at risk & is overwhelming our communities. Texas is doing Biden’s job to secure the border.”
Both Lightfoot and Abbott are running for reelection.
Chicago isn’t the only city Greg Abbott sent illegal immigrants too. He also sent them to New York which is a sanctuary city. Eric Adams isn’t happy and blasted Abbott for his plan.
According to The Washington Examiner. Eric Adams, the mayor of New York City, continues to claim that Texas is sending illegal immigrants to his city as a form of cruelty. Everyone, including Adams himself, knows that Democratic sanctuary cities are losing this debate.
In the wake of headlines from New York City and Washington, D.C., Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (and Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey) are taking advantage of the influx of illegal immigrants. Clearly, liberal sanctuary cities cannot handle a fraction of what smaller border towns in Arizona and Texas have been dealing with for years.
Adams is trying to reclaim the conversation, portraying Texas as cruel and weak, sending illegal immigrants away rather than helping them. Here he is calling those same immigrants a “burden” on New York.
Which is it Adams? Are you a sanctuary city or are immigrants a burden? You can’t have it both ways.
Adams is trying to put on a tough face, but there is no turning this around. are only taking up New York City’s offer to welcome migrants. For years, Republican governors have watched small border towns be overwhelmed. It is unlikely Adams will turn this into a winner by shaming them when the Big Apple can’t handle a few months of arrivals.
Both Lori Lightfoot and Adams clearly made a huge mistake with their sanctuary city policies. Abbott called their bluff and they’re regretting it now. Maybe Democrats will pay more attention to the border and help the southern states that have been dealing with this for years at a much larger scale.
