According to The Daily Wire. A new Suffolk University and USA Today poll indicates that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis would defeat former President Donald Trump in the GOP primary.
A hypothetical Republican primary election in the state showed DeSantis beating Trump 48% to 41%. The poll shows Trump’s fortunes reversing from February, when he beat DeSantis 47% to 40%.
According to a Quipinniac University survey in August, 73% of registered Republicans approve of Trump. Per Gallup, Trump’s approval rating among party members has declined significantly since the 2020 presidential election.
On the other hand, conservatives have praised DeSantis for opposing transgenderism and critical race theory in schools, as well as for limiting abortion after Roe v. Wade was overturned, and recently for transporting illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities in the north. He recently joined Fox to blast the democrats hypocrisy on the issue.
DeSantis has cut a prominent profile among Republicans nationally for his conservative policies in Florida, centered around his approach to Covid-19, when the state removed masks and vaccine mandates years before others.
Meanwhile Trump is dealing with the aftermath of the FBI’s investigation and search on his Mar-a-Lago home. Trump said attempts to indict him for this would not deter him from running for Office.

Trump seems determined to run for office. Despite recent polling showing Desantis being a formidable opponent for Trump, If the DOJ and indictment attempts don’t deter him, it’s unlikely Desantis will.
