Daily wire writes. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) cooked breakfast Saturday morning for first responders who have been on the frontlines dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Ian.
Hurricane Ian made made landfall Wednesday afternoon in Southwest Florida as one of the most powerful Category 4 hurricanes to ever hit the state, with sustained wind speeds reaching up to 155 mph.DeSantis served the first responders, emergency response staff, and volunteers at a Waffle House in Punta Gorda.
Desantis is in the middle of one of the largest hurricane recovery projects to date, with millions of Floridians without power or resources.
According to a press release from Ron Desantis’s office. Governor DeSantis also highlighted relief efforts that directly aid Floridians, including the start of the fuel tax holiday, and promoted debris removal in communities where it is safe to do so. There are currently 42,000 linemen responding to the more than 840,000 reported power outages. They have already restored power to more than 1.8 million accounts across the state. First Lady Casey DeSantis announced that the Florida Disaster Fund has raised over $21 million in the first 48 hours of activation.
The press release went on to note statewide locations for resources, and food distribution as well as ongoing efforts in rescue attempts and other projects related to Hurricane Ian.
The press release noted that 1,800 rescues have occurred tod ate of trapped individuals.
Ron Desantis is doing everything possible to keep his citizens safe, and making the recovery process go as quickly as he possibly can. God bless him for his efforts.
