Drug smugglers are getting smarter and smarter as massive amounts of the world’s deadliest drug is pouring across the border into the United States. A smuggler who thought they were being clever got busted bringing one of the most dangerous drugs in the world through security.

The hill reports. Authorities on Wednesday seized about 12,000 suspected fentanyl pills that were found packaged in several bags of what appeared to be candy at Los Angeles International Airport.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department narcotics detectives and DEA agents assigned to the airport responded to a TSA screening area around 7:30 a.m. after a person tried to go through with bags of candy and other snacks, officials said in a news release. The suspected trafficker fled but has been identified, authorities said.

Wait a minute, how does someone flee from one of the supposedly most secure areas in the country? Aren’t airports supposed to be full of police, and security agents? How does that happen?

This report comes after other reports of drug smugglers disguising fentanyl as candy ahead of Halloween.

Next News Network reported. Halloween is just around the corner, and that means it’s time to start planning your child’s costume. Be sure to keep an eye out for Rainbow Fentanyl, which looks just like Smarties candy. This deadly drug can kill your child in just one bite, so please be vigilant and keep them safe this Halloween.

The Senate GOP Doctors Caucus unveiled a public service announcement Thursday warning the American public about the dangers of fentanyl. The group, composed of five senators who are medical professionals, was compelled to produce the PSA because few Americans know about the severity of the scourge of the synthetic drug, which is more than 80% stronger than morphine

Halloween can be a scary time already with ghouls and goblins roaming the streets, but this year we must be even more vigilant. Thanks to a major drug bust at LAX, disaster was averted as 12,000 suspected fentanyl pills were found disguised as candy. Fentanyl is one of the most dangerous drugs in the world and even the smallest amount can be lethal. So parents, please check your kids’ candy before letting them indulge this Halloween. And for all trick-or-treaters out there, be on alert for any suspicious treats or packages. It’s not worth risking your life over a piece of “candy.” Stay safe this Halloween and always check your sweets before consuming them. The last thing anyone wants is for this holiday to end in tragedy. Let’s all work together to keep our communities safe.
