For decades the leftists of this country have been issuing non stop attacks on the constitutional right for self protection. Every single attempt to mitigate and reduce the individual right to a firearm is an open attack on the second amendment, now in the great state of Iowa, the people have spoken.
KCRG reported. A constitutional amendment was passed in Iowa that adds extra gun rights protections and tightens any attempts to pass gun control legislation.
Voters approved the following amendment:
Article I of the Constitution of the State of Iowa is amended by adding the following new section: Right to keep and bear arms. Sec. 1A. The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The sovereign state of Iowa affirms and recognizes this right to be a fundamental individual right. Any and all restrictions of this right shall be subject to strict scrutiny.
Watch
Dave Funk, the president of the Iowa Firearms Coalition, heralded the passage of the amendment on Tuesday night. “ This is a historical day for freedom, civil rights and the Hawkeye state,” Funk said, in a statement. “The right to self-defense and bear arms is here to stay in Iowa and we are grateful for the thousands of Iowans who took time out of their days to cast a vote in favor of liberty
This move by Iowa is in strict contrast to the recent measure that was recently passed in Oregon this week.
Oregon live reported. A grassroots faith-based campaign achieved one of the country’s strictest gun control measures. The measure will require Oregonians to obtain a permit to buy a gun after completing a firearms safety course and would ban the sale or transfer of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition. As a result, the so-called Charleston loophole will be closed by requiring state police to conduct a full background check on any buyer or transfer of a gun with a permit. As of now, firearms dealers can sell guns without a completed background check if the check takes more than three business days to complete.
The results are in and the people of Iowa have spoken loud and clear – they want their gun rights protected! With the passage of public measure 1, Iowa residents have taken a stand against the incessant attacks on the second amendment. This amendment puts gun protections into the Iowa state constitution, making it much more difficult for gun control legislation to pass. This is a huge victory for freedom and civil rights, and a big middle finger to the leftists who have been trying to take away our guns for years. The founding fathers knew that the right to bear arms was essential to freedom, and we should all be thankful that the people of Iowa have chosen to defend that right. No more gun grabs – not in Iowa! Oregon, not so much.
