Well clearly TSA agents can say that they have seen it all when it comes to unique items coming through the airport security lines, from personal devices in unique packaging, to firearms in the weirdest places.
Townhall reports. An agent from the Transportation Security Administration discovered a handgun hidden inside a raw chicken packed in a checked bag at a Florida airport.
According to Sari Koshetz, a TSA spokesperson for the Gulf region, agents discovered the item at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Sept. 27. According to reports, the traveler was headed to Haiti’s Port-Au-Prince.
The TSA posted the incident on their instagram page stating “The plot chickens as we barrel our way closer to Thanksgiving. For us, it’s a time to be thankful that our officers are always working around the cluck to keep you safe. Take for instance this “hen you believe it?” find at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. We hate to beak it to you here, but stuffing a firearm in your holiday bird for travel is just a baste of time. This idea wasn’t even half-baked; it was raw, greasy, and obviously unsupervised. The only roast happening here is this poor packing choice! Feather you like it or not, there are rules for traveling with guns and ammunition. So, don’t wing it; roost over the proper packaging info through the link in our bio.”
According to TSA’s website, unloaded firearms can only be transported in a locked, hard-sided container as checked baggage. The firearm must be declared to the airline.
TSA has seen some weird ways to smuggle drugs also.
The hill reports. Authorities in October seized about 12,000 suspected fentanyl pills that were found packaged in several bags of what appeared to be candy at Los Angeles International Airport.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department narcotics detectives and DEA agents assigned to the airport responded to a TSA screening area around 7:30 a.m. after a person tried to go through with bags of candy and other snacks, officials said in a news release. The suspected trafficker fled but has been identified, authorities said.
Definitely a “Florida Man” incident, I’m guessing that the person who attempted to check the bag had no clue as to how x-rays actually work, and that a giant piece of metal would not in fact be hidden by bones, especially those of a chicken. Goes to show you that no matter how advanced we get as a society, there will always be someone who is so dumb, that you have to just shake your head in wonder.
