Lets talk about admirable Chuck Schumer and how he’s trying to work with the Republicans. It seems like a good idea, but there’s one condition that he has before working with them and it might not be what you expect. Can you guess it?
Fox news reported. Democrat Chuck Schumer praised both parties for working together to pass a gay marriage bill, claiming more bipartisan action is possible in the future if Republicans cast aside those who support former President Donald Trump.
In his speech on the Senate floor Wednesday morning, Schumer singled out Republican Senators Susan Collins, R-Maine, Rob Portman, R-Ohio, and Thom Tillis, R-N.C., for supporting the Respect for Marriage Act. He said that he prefers to pass legislation with support from both parties.
Schumer stated during the speech. “I hope that yesterday’s vote is a signal that both parties can keep working together on difficult issues in the next Congress. If our Republican colleagues can shake off the MAGA wing of their party that is holding Republicans down, we can get a lot done,” Schumer said. “And it’s obvious to everyone there are many Republican senators who don’t embrace MAGA. And we say to them, “We want to keep working with you.”
Schumer continued his argument that both parties needed to work together by stating “ It is necessary in order to keep tackling the big problems that face our country” and that Republicans abandoning Trump’s “MAGA” movement “will go a long way to restoring people’s faith that Congress can work together and even disagree without being disagreeable.”
This continued attack on MAGA Republicans comes after a joining of forces between Schumer and Mitch Mcconnell.
Big League Politics reported. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer revealed on CNN’s “This Morning” earlier this week that he would meet with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell after the midterm elections in an effort to repudiate the “MAGA Republicans.”
Watch.
For the past four years, Democrats have been demanding that Republicans reject the slogan of “America First” through MAGA. Simply because it’s attached to Donald Trump. But now that Joe Biden is in office with clear intentions of destroying America, Republicans are not refusing to work with Democrats. It’s clear that the only thing Democrats care about is power, and they will do whatever it takes to get it. Even if that means sacrificing the well-being of the American people. Should Republicans reject MAGA and embrace America LAST for the sake of common ground or should they stand firm?
