The debate on abortion constantly intensifies, as both sides come out with very passionate opinions. As pro-abortionists believe the majority of Americans stand with them, a recent poll shows that those numbers may not be as convincing as they think. Most Americans aren’t as radical as the left would want them to be. Americans are reasonably not crazy.
It appears that the pro-life movement has another major win to celebrate that we can build on! A new poll just found that a majority of Americans reject far-left Democrats’ agenda for abortion on demand, and instead favor restrictions on the procedure. This is excellent news for the pro-lifers who have been working tirelessly to save as many babies from abortion as possible, even after Roe v Wade’s overturn. Let’s keep fighting and make sure every child gets the chance at life they deserve!
Breitbart reports, according to a new poll, most Americans oppose abortion on demand and support some restriction on abortion.
Marist Poll released a survey in partnership with the Knights of Columbus ahead of the first March for Life since Roe v. Wade was overturned in June of 2022. According to the survey, 69 percent of 1,025 adults believe some restrictions should be placed on abortion or that it should be outlawed completely.
In spite of the fact that 61 percent of Americans identify as “pro-choice” and 39 percent as “pro-life,” only 21 percent believe abortion should be available at any point in pregnancy – including 32 percent of Democrats, four percent of Republicans, and 20 percent of independents. There is a ten percent consensus among Americans that abortion should be available within six months of conception.
Among those surveyed, 25 percent believe abortions should be restricted within three months of pregnancy; 26 percent believe it should be restricted except in cases of rape, incest, and to save the mother’s life; ten percent say abortions should be forbidden except for the life of the mother; and eight percent say they should be prohibited entirely. As a result, 69 percent of respondents believe abortions should be restricted after three months of pregnancy.
In addition to taxpayer funding of abortions, religious liberty and abortion, and abortions based on specific characteristics, respondents were surveyed on other aspects of abortion policy.
78 percent of Americans oppose taxpayer funding of abortions abroad, including 61 percent of Democrats, 91 percent of Republicans, and 81 percent of independents. Six points higher (54 percent) than the results from last January, 60 percent oppose forcing taxpayers to fund abortion in the United States.
Almost all Americans (94 percent) oppose sex-selective abortions, including 74 percent who “strongly oppose.” Voters of all political affiliations oppose abortions based on sex.
Even after the overturn of Roe V. Wade pro-life activists are still in for the fight and will continue the decade long traditional march that has typically been held in Washington D.C.
ABC News covered the matter in preparation for the historic march.
The long awaited overturning of Roe V. Wade has been an incredible victory for the pro-life movement, which had fought tirelessly and constitutionally to see this happen for decades. As the leaders of the movement see it, now is not the time to become complacent; instead, they declare that this is an opportunity to build on these achievements by advocating for legislation that will result in even more successful protection of unborn babies’ rights. There has also been a predictable response from the radical left, further proof that we need to continue fighting to eliminate any type of pro-abortion legislation they’ll try to implement nationwide. This determination will remain strong among conservatives, regardless of how aggressive the democrats are about their pro-choice stance. Now is our chance – and we must defend like hell.
