The fact that certain groups and organizations with connections to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) are allowed to meet on our soil and push their agendas – ones that directly oppose our own values and beliefs – should be the shock of shocks. It is an unprecedented situation where we must question who would ever let this happen – especially when you consider that some of our representatives are part of these CCP influenced organizations.
It is completely unacceptable that Democratic Representative Judy Chu of California has been revealed to be appointed to an honorary leadership position within an alleged Chinese Communist Party (CCP) intelligence front group. Not only is the CCP a murderous regime, but having a U.S. representative secretly connected to an organization tied to this oppressive regime undermines the trust of representatives as well as citizens of our nation.Â
The Post Millennial reports, in August 2019, it was revealed that California Democratic Representative Judy Chu had been appointed to an honorary leadership position within an alleged Chinese Communist Party (CCP) intelligence front group.

As reported by the Daily Caller, Chu had been named “honorary chairwoman” of the Forum for Peaceful Reunification of China. It is an organization opposed to Taiwan’s independence. The US-China Economic Security and Review Commission (USCC) previously identified the organization as a CCP intelligence service.
On August 23, 2019, the organization’s executive committee held its 34th inauguration ceremony at the Capital Seafood restaurant in Monterey Park. At the event, Chu received a certificate from Guo Zhiming, the incoming “chairman” of the Forums for Peaceful Reunification of China, recognizing her “outstanding friendship and support.”
As part of the event, Chu advocated against Taiwan’s independence and called for China and Taiwan “to become one family.”
According to the outlet, the organization is one of 33 anti-Taiwan independence organizations in the US that are subchapters of the China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification. The USCC labeled it in 2018 as “directly subordinate” to the United Front Work Department (UFWD).)
As stated by the USCC at the time, the UFWD has a primary mission of “liaison with foreign political parties”, “influence operations” and “intelligence gathering.” To accomplish this, the CCP deploys UFWD operatives throughout the world to “co-opt and neutralize” potential opposition groups, including ethnic minorities, religious groups and intellectuals.”
It is unclear whether Chu remains the organization’s “honorary chairwoman” or how involved she is.
As Americans, we must take responsibility to ensure our government is held to the highest standard of transparency and safety. News of a sitting representative having ties to the Chinese Communist Party would be a grave violation of trust in our democracy and completely unacceptable. Therefore, if such allegations are brought forth, it’s vital that we do not simply accept the representative’s denial at face value—we owe it to ourselves and future generations to demand the truth. We can no longer allow corrupt individuals holding office in any shape or form, as doing so puts our freedoms and rights at risk.
