What many liberal leaning news outlets conveniently forget to mention is that the founding fathers were right – having access to firearms firmly establishes the right to self-defense, as evidenced by legally armed citizens during the El Paso shooting using their concealed weapons and taking down the shooter.
In a shocking occurrence just last week, a mall shooting in El Paso, Texas demonstrated precisely why founding fathers were so right on the necessity of citizens being allowed to protect themselves.
Western journal reports, in El Paso, Texas, last week, a mall shooting demonstrated the effectiveness of laws permitting concealed carry of firearms, but it also served as a rebuke to “news” networks like CNN that continually disparage them.
At the Cielo Vista Mall, civilian Emanuel Duran, 32, used his legally obtained and licensed firearm to neutralize a violent teen using an illegally obtained weapon.
In a statement posted to Twitter by the El Paso police, “As soon as the shooting ended, the 16-year-old suspect began to run and was pointing the gun towards the direction of bystanders…As the suspect ran towards Duran and bystanders, Duran drew his handgun and shot the suspect.”

CNN’s headline was a miracle in itself – a testament to the effectiveness of a good guy with a gun in a tough situation: it read “A legally armed civilian shot and wounded the suspected gunman in a fatal El Paso mall shooting, police say”
It must have hurt CNN staffers who produced it, as well as the fans of the network. As a result, CNN is forced to admit that the right to bear arms played a role in stopping a shooting – a victory for the Second Amendment.
One person was killed and three were injured in the shooting, while the suspect was arrested and is currently in stable condition.
CNN uses strawman arguments to fraudulently prop up its anti-2nd Amendment agenda and pass more restrictive gun laws against those who wish to legally own guns.
However, criminals are, by definition, those who break the law. As in El Paso, the majority of gun-related crimes are committed with illegally obtained weapons, with only a small percentage of legally purchased firearms being misused.
287,400 inmates were estimated to have possessed firearms during an offense that led to their incarceration, according to a US Department of Justice report released in 2019.
Over 56 percent of these prisoners obtained the weapons they used in the crime illegally via theft, black market, or found at the scene.
According to the report, 25 percent of the weapons used in the study were obtained from a family member, friend, or gift.
Among the firearms used in the crimes, only 7 percent were obtained from a licensed dealer.
Many mass shootings also occur in places like schools and malls with prominently displayed “gun-free zones”.
According to a 2018 study by the Crime Prevention Research Center, 96 percent of shootings occurred in gun-free zones between 1998 and 2015.
The founding fathers of this great nation were right all along when they declared that citizens should have the right to bear arms for the protection of themselves and their property. Unfortunately, many left-leaning “news” networks like CNN continue to ignore this point and paint a false narrative about the supposed dangers associated with concealed carry laws. As demonstrated in the El Paso mall shooting last week, where one law abiding citizen used his legally obtained gun to neutralize a violent teen who had an illegally obtained weapon, it is clear these laws are effective. This serves as yet another example of how gun control only affects those who are trying to obtain their firearms legally, while criminals will get them however they can. It is time that liberals learn their lesson – founding fathers knew what they were talking about when it came to firearm rights!4
