NYC Mayor Eric Adams made an ill-conceived attempt to criticize Governor Ron DeSantis’ visit to Staten Island, a neighborhood long plagued by crime and now seen as an example of a failed liberal utopia.
New York Mayor Eric Adams has had a rough start, and after Desantis’ recent visit to the failed liberal city, things aren’t looking good. When the mayor tried to take a potshot at the governor’s visit, it backfired in spectacular fashion.
Townhall reports, Mayor Eric Adams (D) “welcomed” Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) to Staten Island because the Florida Man is visiting to tout the state’s crime reduction and law enforcement retention success.
According to Adams, New York City does not ban books, “discriminate against our LGBTQ+ neighbors, use asylum seekers as props, or let the government stand between a woman and health care.”
Although it was not a direct reply to Adams statement on twitter, Desantis did tweet out about his visit to Staten Island.
Desantis tweeted “I visited Staten Island to talk about how law & order has been central to FL’s success. FL leads the nation in protecting LEOs & our crime rate is at a 50-year low, while NYC saw a 23% surge in major crime in 2022. Anti-police politicians should stop catering to the woke mob.”
Ron Desantis was not done with his tour his next stop was Chicago, Illinois home of America’s worst governor Jb Pritzker and worst mayor Lori Lightfoot.
WGN news reports. Governor Ron DeSantis spoke in support of police in the suburbs of Chicago. Chicago FOP Lodge 7 and John Catanzara promoted the invitation-only event.
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker was quick to condemn the visit by the conservative Florida governor he stated “He doesn’t represent the values of the people of Illinois. In fact, he the antithesis of that, He’s demonstrated that he’s homophobic, that’s hes got tendencies to promote racism. He’s somebody who doesn’t mix well with the values of the people of the state of Illinois.”
DeSantis views the trip as payback. A gathering of Florida Democrats was keynoted by Pritzker last summer in Tampa. Pritzker’s travels and other activities have stoked speculation he could run for president.
NYC Mayor Eric Adams made an ill-conceived attempt to criticize Governor Ron DeSantis’ visit to Staten Island, a neighborhood long plagued by crime and now seen as a shining example of what not to let a city become. His attempt, while admirable in thought, was likely seen as tone-deaf in light of the fact that Governor Ron DeSantis is being held up as a hero by many conservatives for his crime and retention in law enforcement successes elsewhere. Adams’ objections to DeSantis using Staten Island “as props” appears ignorant of the reasons behind this potent symbol of a new normal: one without crime and liberal ideals run wild. To someone like NYC Mayor Eric Adams, New York looks like a great success of a city but in reality it is a failed liberal utopia, but for the residents Desantis’s visit means that there is a new hope for the restoration of law and order.
