Fox News has released its inaugural national survey on presidential nomination races in 2024, one year before the primaries. As it turns out, President Trump appears to be formidable, while President Biden faces doubts.
For the 2024 Republican nomination, voters were presented with a list of 15 announced and potential candidates. Trump leads the list with 43%, followed by Ron DeSantis at 28%, Nikki Haley and Mike Pence at 7% each, and Greg Abbott and Liz Cheney at 2% each.
The rest received less than 1%. There were only 3% of people who were unsure of their choice at this early stage.
Meanwhile, over on the Democrat side, data showed that 37% of Democratic primary voters want to keep Biden as their party’s nominee while a majority of 53% said they would like someone else to run.
There is no comparison between Biden’s support and that of Trump four years ago. Nearly twice as many GOP registered voters wanted Trump to remain their party’s nominee at the same time in the election cycle in February 2019.
The Fox News poll also found that 77% of respondents favored requiring mental competency tests for politicians over age 75.
In recent weeks, both Nikki Haley and President Trump have called for mental competency tests to be taken by anyone vying for the Presidency. Trump took it one step further by calling for physical exams as well.
On Truth Social, Trump stated, “ANYBODY running for the Office of President of the United States should agree to take a full & complete Mental Competency Test simultaneously (or before!) with the announcement that he or she is running, & likewise, but to a somewhat lesser extent, agree to a test which would prove that you are physically capable of doing the job.”
He continued, saying, “Being an outstanding President requires great mental acuity & physical stamina. If you don’t have these qualities or traits, it is likely you won’t succeed.”
This most recent poll shows the approval ratings for Team Trump look remarkably high, offering good news for the upcoming election cycle. It is clear that President Trump continues to be a formidable force to be reckoned with come 2024. However, no one should jump to conclusions yet and assume that the victory is in the bag – especially with what we saw during last year’s midterm elections. In order for President Trump to soundly secure the victory, it is important for all Republicans to keep the momentum going and support MAGA by rallying around the cause and showing up in record numbers at the ballot box next year.
