The world was shocked when a Russian fighter jet collided with a US military Reaper drone over the Black Sea in March 2021. This incident, along with other recent events, has caused many to question President Joe Biden’s foreign policy leadership and whether it is taking us to the brink of World War 3.
On Tuesday, an American MQ-9 Reaper drone crashed over the Black Sea after being struck by a Russian fighter jet.
It has been two years since Joe Biden took office and his foreign policy record has been far from impressive. He promised to restore dignified leadership at home and respected leadership on the world stage, but instead he has brought us closer to war than ever before. From his failed attempts at diplomacy with Russia, China and North Korea, to his support for NATO expansion in Eastern Europe, Biden’s foreign policy has been an unmitigated disaster.
The Founding Fathers warned against “foreign entanglements” and yet Biden continues to involve America in international conflicts that have nothing to do with our national security interests. He has also failed to address the growing threat of terrorism around the world, which could lead to further instability in the region.
Biden’s approach to international trade has also been a cause for concern. He has maintained tariffs on countries such as China and India without any clear strategy or plan for how these measures will benefit American workers or businesses. His administration also recently announced plans for a new global tax system that would put American companies at a disadvantage compared to their foreign competitors.
Furthermore, Biden’s foreign policy agenda fails to take into account the long-term consequences of his decisions. For example, his support for NATO expansion in Eastern Europe could lead to increased tensions between Russia and its neighbors, potentially leading to a full-blown conflict in the region. Similarly, his decision not to impose sanctions on Iran could embolden them further down the line and make it more difficult for future administrations to contain their nuclear ambitions.
At this critical juncture in history, we need strong leadership from our president on foreign policy issues if we are going to avoid being dragged into another major conflict like World War 3. Unfortunately, Joe Biden’s record so far suggests that he is not up to this task and is taking us down a dangerous path towards war rather than peace and stability.
