At a Wednesday city council meeting, a Chicago reporter who sued Democratic Mayor Lori Lightfoot for allegedly silencing him with the removal of his city press credentials hit back at her yet again.
During a public comment portion of the meeting, Journalist William Kelly berated the outgoing mayor for her botched leadership, the NY Post reports.
Following his remarks at the city council meeting, Kelly told FOX News that his comments were his “chance to speak out on behalf of the citizens of Chicago.”
In November, Lightfoot, 60, a Democrat who was elected in 2019, lost re-election. The one-term Chicago mayor has been criticized for spiking crime in the city during her tenure. In 2021, the city’s homicide rate spiked by 40%.
