Crisis at the US-Mexico Border: Illegal Migrants Throw Babies in Asylum Rush

The desperation of illegal migrants never ceases to amaze. When it seems like we have seen it all, including the risky treks and surely rationed food for their journey, the creativity, resilience, and determination of those wanting to migrate should continue to humble us. Despite dangerous conditions and uncertain futures, so many are willing to take their fate into their own hands—risking everything for a better life  for their family—in pursuit of a new beginning.

Despite how humbling their dedication is to get here, we have laws and rules for a reason. It’s not because we don’t want them here, it’s so we can remain the nation so many of them can legally flee to. Without those laws and rules we become like all the rest of the countries. Yet, illegals continue to ignore those laws and go as far as to throw their children over rivers to come to the U.S.

The New York reports, a frantic scene at the border on Wednesday afternoon saw more than 1,000 migrants rush across the river that separates the US from Mexico in El Paso, Texas, the US Border Patrol confirmed. As dozens of small children and babies were thrown over the river, the US Border Patrol confirmed they were injured.

After rumors circulated on social media that they would be allowed entry into the US if they surrendered themselves to immigration agents, desperate parents threw their children over the international boundary Wednesday.

The Post witnessed frantic families running for miles hoping to reach “the front of the line,” after false information spread on social media.

Most of the hordes were Venezuelans who believed that surrendering to Border Patrol would allow them to seek asylum.

The agency, however, said that migrants were receiving misinformation and that Title 42 is still being enforced, which means Cubans, Guatemalans, Haitians, Hondurans, Mexicans, Nicaraguans, Salvadorans and Venezuelans who cross the international border illegally will automatically be expelled.

US Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz, “People should not believe smugglers or others claiming the borders are open. The borders are not open, and people should not make the dangerous journey. Migrants making an unlawful entry are subject to expulsion and repatriation.”

If our country continues to be overrun like these past two years, there will not be an America to run to in the future. That’s what people calling for open borders refuse to acknowledge or are intentionally wanting to happen. Unfortunately some of us love this country and want it to continue to be the beacon of hope. A strong message must be sent to these illegals in 2024 when we have the chance to kick this administration to the curb.
