Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has introduced articles of impeachment against FBI Director Christopher Wray, citing abuse of power and targeting of political opponents under his watch. With the recent release of special counsel John Durham’s report on the FBI’s investigation into the alleged ties between former President Donald Trump and Russia, Greene accuses Wray of overseeing the agency’s entrapment of individuals and shielding and protecting President Joe Biden and his family.

On Tuesday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) introduced articles of impeachment against FBI Director Christopher Wray. This comes after special counsel John Durham’s final report on his investigation into the FBI’s inquiry into alleged ties between former President Donald Trump and Russia. The report found that the FBI and Department of Justice had no proper basis for launching the investigation, casting doubt on the idea that the FBI should have ever even launched its investigation into allegations of collusion between Trump and the Russian government during the 2016 election.
Greene believes the FBI has “intimidated, harassed, and entrapped” people under Wray’s watch and has turned the FBI into President Joe Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland’s “personal police force.” She claims that not only has Wray persecuted political opponents in an unprecedented and partisan way, but he has also overseen his agency take actions to shield and protect the current president and his family.
Greene argues that the FBI has targeted people “deemed enemies of the Biden regime,” including an FBI whistleblower, Garret O’Boyle, who told congressional investigators that the agency had created a terrorist threat tag in the wake of the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Further, in a raid performed by the FBI last September, armed agents raided the home of Mark Houck, an anti-abortion Catholic and father of seven young children, in response to his obstructing access to an abortion clinic.
Additionally, Greene mentioned the raid the FBI performed on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence last August to recover classified documents the former president had in his possession. Shortly after, classified documents were also found to be in Biden’s Delaware home and in his office at the Penn-Biden Center.
“It is unacceptable for the Director of the FBI or any civil officer to exercise his power in a way that targets one political class while doing favors for the other,” Greene stated.
Therefore, she is introducing Articles of Impeachment against the “corrupt FBI Director Christopher Wray” as well as U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves, who she says has “totally subverted the justice system of the United States” during his time as attorney for Washington D.C.
Greene’s move to impeach Wray and Graves is warranted, especially after the Durham report confirmed that the FBI and DOJ had no proper basis for launching the investigation into alleged ties between Trump and Russia during the 2016 election. It is also concerning to see the FBI carrying out raids on the homes of private citizens, such as Mark Houck, who were simply exercising their First Amendment rights to free speech and protesting against abortion. This shows how the FBI is going beyond its duty of serving and protecting American citizens and is instead acting as a political tool for the Biden administration.
As Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s articles of impeachment move forward, it’s clear that the American people continue to lose faith in the FBI’s ability to operate without partisan influence and investigate allegations of wrongdoing without bias. With Wray at the helm, the agency has been mired in scandal after scandal, from the Hunter Biden laptop incident to the raids on private citizens’ homes for political reasons. The American people deserve better than a corrupt FBI director who uses his power to silence dissent and protect those in power. It’s time for Christopher Wray to answer for his gross abuse of power and for the agency to be held accountable for its actions. The FBI needs to be reminded that they serve all American citizens and should not be carrying out political acts that favor one party over another.
