The North Carolina Governor has declared a “State of Emergency” over the Republican-led legislature’s upcoming proposals for school choice and other conservative measures. Governor Roy Cooper said that these legislative proposals aimed to choke the life out of public education which prompted him to give an announcement. Many states have similar voucher programs, but the Governor’s decision to declare a ‘State of Emergency’ has raised many questions while obstructing the people’s right of choice.
