The FBI recently released a 408-page report on the 2015 San Bernardino shooting that occurred at the Inland Regional Center in California. Married couple Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik killed 14 people at the event. The report concluded that the terrorists were “homegrown violent extremists” who acted alone but received firearms from their neighbor, Enrique Marquez Jr., who provided material support for terrorism. The report contains dozens of testimonies from workers and witnesses. Some witnesses claimed that the ID scanner for the building was tampered with before the shooting occurred, making it difficult for people to take cover in the building. One worker claimed that she saw three subjects, two of whom were wearing all black, while the third was wearing all black with red shoes. The FBI has yet to address who tampered with the ID scanner, and no video footage of the scanner being tampered with has been released to the public. In almost every witness account, interview sessions by detectives were recorded; however, there were some complications with the handheld recording device, and one interview was not recorded. Sally Abdelmageed, a center employee who was an eyewitness, claimed she saw three attackers. The report’s release raises many questions, and people are eagerly waiting for the FBI to provide more details.
