In these trying times, as COVID continues to ravage the world, big tech and social media giants have gone on a hiring spree, appointing people to police so-called hate speech and misinformation. In reality, this was just another political move made by these companies, as hate speech is merely speech that the liberal elites don’t agree with, and misinformation is anything that hasn’t been approved by the mainstream media outlets like CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times, and the Washington Post.

Now that Joe Biden’s economy is failing to deliver on his promises, these same companies are now deciding to let go of these workers, showing their true colors and their lack of commitment to what they proclaimed to be the greater good. This is a crying shame for any society that values free speech and the open exchange of ideas.

CNBC reports that Meta, Amazon, Alphabet, and even Twitter have drastically reduced the size of their teams tasked with monitoring and managing internet trust and safety. The tech industry is currently undergoing macroeconomic pressures, imposing hefty layoffs, and reducing team sizes, which will have a long-lasting impact on the economy and society at large.

Even more concerning, Meta was prepped to debut a new fact-checking tool that would allow third-party fact-checkers, like the Associated Press and Reuters, and other credible experts, to add comments at the top of questionable articles on Facebook to verify their trustworthiness. The company’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, however, decided to make 2023 the year of efficiency and, in doing so, spelled the end of the ambitious effort.

The left is outraged, but we know the truth. This is just another example of the liberal agenda taking over the business landscape, manipulating the narrative to bring down those who fight for the truth. Reports are coming in that as companies tighten their belts, those tasked with protecting and ensuring that our online communities are trustworthy and safe are being laid off in droves.

The simple truth is that the speech police is not a job that should ever have existed in the United States in the first place. Instead of trying to control the spread of information, we should be valuing and developing new technologies that will allow for the free and open exchange of ideas, without fear of censorship or retaliation.

In conclusion, it’s time to take a step back and reconsider the priorities of these tech giants. Rather than imposing layoffs and reducing team sizes, they need to focus on developing more innovative solutions to protect our online communities in a non-partisan and non-censoring way. Or else, they risk further backlash from the American people.
