Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon stands strong as an advocate for free speech in an important conversation on censorship and the critical need for balanced opinions.
In an interview on the Not Noise show by Just The News, Dillon asserted that Big Tech censorship is “the issue for our time.” The CEO rejected the ongoing suppression faced by satire outlet The Babylon Bee. Specifically, he noted how Twitter’s actions against The Bee and limitations on speaking out have dire consequences for society with just one side’s opinions holding power.
He expressed concern for the future, identifying free speech as a crucial issue in today’s issues landscape. Dillon pointed to the dangers of succumbing to an Orwellian society by submitting control of information to one political side. Censorship, Dillon says, has detrimental effects on society when only one side can voice their opinions, make claims, and silence the other side for their thoughts and beliefs.
The Babylon Bee has continually faced censorship; in one example, Twitter suspended the satirical news site under the prior regime for labeling Biden’s HHS Assistant Secretary Admiral Dr. Rachel Levine, a transgender woman, as “Man of the Year.”
Dillon reiterated his commitment to fighting against leftist attacks and the silencing of conservatives, by saying, “We’re trying to do that with a lot of mockery and humor, but we’re also trying to exert our right to be on these platforms to continue making these jokes.”
