In yet another example of the leftist agenda taking over, a group of innocent children were silenced from singing our country’s national anthem in the very halls of the U.S. Capitol. Capitol Police, under the guise of “policy,” attempted to put an end to the sweet voices of the Rushingbrook Children’s Choir from Greenville.

A horrifying incident has emerged from the very heart of the U.S. Capitol – the supposed stronghold of democracy – featuring children being silenced while singing the national anthem. A children’s choir from South Carolina, known as Rushingbrook Children’s Choir, were stopped mid-performance by an officer from the Capitol Police, and an appalling video footage of this episode has left many onlookers feeling shocked and dismayed. The Capitol Police initially claimed that the children’s choir had no permission to sing in the building, but it was later revealed that they simply did not know that the Speaker’s Office had approved of this performance. The choir director, David Rasbach, had already secured permission from three Congressional offices, and the Speaker’s office had also given their explicit approval.

Rasbach and another choir leader have voiced their anger and astonishment at what transpired. The incident occurred on May 26, and although the Capitol Police later attempted to deny any political bias in their decision-making, some Republicans are accusing them of just that. They argue that the blatant breach of the children’s right to sing the national anthem without any interference was the result of a liberal agenda of political correctness that has infested every aspect of society, even the most sacred ones such as the national anthem.

The video of the event shows the children singing as a Capitol Police officer speaks to two other men. One of the men, who seems to work for Congress, then approaches Rasbach and it becomes clear that the situation is about to come to a head. A few seconds later, Rasbach cuts off the choir, as the staffer explains to him that they cannot sing any longer. Some Republicans believe this was a politically motivated decision, and they claim that staffers from various offices lied to the patrol officers about the choir’s status. The Capitol Police, however, categorically deny this and have accused the congressional staffer of being deceptive. They have also defended themselves, stating that no one – not even children – can be allowed to perform demonstrations and musical performances in the U.S. Capitol.

Despite this, one cannot escape the fact that this decision has cut short such a beautiful display of patriotism and love for the country. The choir had come to the Capitol specifically to express their love for the nation in song, and were clearly thrilled to be able to carry out what they thought was an approved performance in the heart of democracy. Sadly, this was not to be, and the bravery of these children was silenced by what appeared to be an over-zealous and politicised police force.

In light of this, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, along with three other Republican members of Congress, is expected to issue a joint statement, expressing their disappointment at the persecution of these children. They felt that this was an absolute travesty of democracy, and could not overshadow the fact that the People’s House had been reopened after a year-long lockdown, and they felt that it should be a welcoming place for all Americans, including children who love their country.

This is a sad day for democracy in America, children being stopped from singing the national anthem in the People’s House, due to a baseless political agenda. Where does it end? What freedoms will be taken away next? If America cannot count on its heart being pure, where can it? This is a day that will be remembered in infamy, and we must never stand down when it comes to defending our country, our values, and our children.

The Rushingbrook Children’s Choir from Greenville may have had their voices silenced temporarily, but their message of love for America rings loud and clear. It’s a shame that the leftist agenda has infiltrated even the highest halls of our government, attempting to silence innocent children from singing our national anthem. But as we’ve seen time and time again, the truth always comes out. We can only hope that justice is served and those responsible for this shameful display are held accountable. We must continue to fight for the right to express our love for America and all that it stands for.
