FBI Director Christopher Wray accused of half-hearted cooperation with subpoena as media focuses on former President Trump’s scandal. Key document alleging VP Biden’s involvement in bribery scheme made available only for viewing, but not handed over to Congress. Fox News manages to cover both scandals, while major networks ABC, CBS and NBC focus on Trump.
FBI Director Christopher Wray finds himself at the center of a tense situation involving a subpoena from House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-TX). Comer wants a document alleging then Vice President Biden’s involvement in a bribery scheme handed over to the committee, but Wray only allowed the committee to see it. This has led to Comer announcing his intention to hold Wray in contempt of Congress, while the major evening news broadcasts chose not to focus on this scandal, instead focusing on former President Trump’s lawyers meeting with special counsel Jack Smith.
Fox News Channel’s Special Report with correspondent David Spunt, however, did manage to cover both scandals. The disputed FBI 1023 document was handed over to Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss in 2020, and Spunt reports that there have been conflicting statements between Comer and ranking member Jamie Raskin (D-MD) on the issue. Multiple sources tell Fox News that the person who made the allegation against then Vice President Biden was a trusted FBI source and that the investigation remains ongoing. In response to Wray’s lack of full compliance, Comer plans to hold him accountable and initiate contempt of Congress hearings.
Bias by omission from the three major networks has left room for the discussion of possibly critical information regarding the current administration. As Chairman Comer pushes forward with holding FBI Director Christopher Wray accountable, the public should look at all available information and demand transparency from both the FBI and the media.
