In a shocking turn of events, California’s Governor Gavin Newsom is threatening legal action against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis over what he deems “kidnapping charges” related to the transport of illegal immigrants to California. The dispute arises after two recent planes, transporting undocumented individuals from Florida to Sacramento, touched down in the Golden State.

The first plane, carrying a large group of illegal aliens, arrived in Sacramento last Friday, while the second plane, transporting individuals from Venezuela and Colombia, reached California on Monday. Inside these planes, the migrants carried documents that seemingly originated from the state of Florida. This incident comes hot on the heels of Republican Governor DeSantis sending two planes of undocumented individuals to the sanctuary city of Martha’s Vineyard—an act which outraged the local Democratic authorities.

Texas Democrat Sheriff Bobby Whited also added fuel to the fire by suggesting the possibility of felony and misdemeanor charges of unlawful restraint on Governor DeSantis for his migrant flights to Martha’s Vineyard. In response, Governor Newsom took to social media and referred to DeSantis as a “small, pathetic man,” openly questioning whether his actions amount to “kidnapping charges.”

Meanwhile, California’s Attorney General Rob Bonta stated his office is evaluating whether to potentially charge those involved in transporting the undocumented individuals. According to Bonta, “state-sanctioned kidnapping is not a public policy choice, it is immoral and disgusting.” He further emphasized that they are considering “criminal or civil action against those who transported or arranged for the transport of these vulnerable immigrants.”
