In such tumultuous times, it’s hard to find a voice of reason. But when it comes to Governor Kristi Noem, one could argue that she leads the pack. Praising country music star, Jason Aldean for his latest hit, “Try That In a Small Town,” Noem went so far as to offer the Governor’s mansion as a venue for his upcoming concerts.

Not only is Noem a fan of the song, but she shares the same values Aldean sings about in the song. Right from the start, Noem expressed her admiration for the song and said she would have been honored if its video was shot in South Dakota.
She also championed the song as a reflection of American ideals and values that are seemingly under attack. “I am shocked by what I’m seeing in this country. With people attempting to cancel this song, and cancel Jason and his beliefs — him and Brittany are outspoken about their love for law and order and for their love of this country, and I’m just grateful for them.”
Aldean and his wife are unapologetically conservative and have been vocal about their support for law enforcement and the American way of life. But despite their patriotism, they’ve been unfairly targeted and discriminated against.
In fact, Country Music Television (CMT) removed Aldean’s video from their channel, claiming that the song condoned lynching. This is a blatant attack on free speech and an attempt to silence those who value our country’s heritage and traditions.
But Noem remains steadfast in her support for Aldean and his music. “I just want them to know that we support them, we love them, thank you for writing a song that America can get behind,” Noem said. “Keep singing, keep playing, and if you want to come to South Dakota, we’ll let you play anywhere, we’ll facilitate it. I know you’re coming in August, but if you want to come sing it on the governor’s residence front lawn, we’ll do it proudly.”
The offer of the Governor’s mansion is a powerful statement, one that shows that the values of small-town America are alive and well in South Dakota. It’s clear that Noem is a leader who’s not afraid to speak out against cancel culture and those who seek to silence opposing voices.
We need more leaders like Noem who are unafraid to stand up for what’s right. Let’s hope that her courage inspires others to follow in her footsteps.
