A shocking new poll from the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research has sent shockwaves through the White House, revealing that a staggering 77 percent of Americans believe that President Joe Biden is too old to effectively serve a second term. Even more troubling for the administration, a whopping 69 percent of Biden’s own Democratic party hold the same view.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was confronted about this damning poll on “The Lead with Jake Tapper” and her attempts to deflect and hide behind the Hatch Act failed to convince anyone. Tapper boldly asked if the White House was concerned that questions about Biden’s stamina could put his reelection chances in jeopardy. He rightfully pointed out that Jean-Pierre was allowed to discuss the perception of the public regarding the president’s age and stamina.

Jean-Pierre’s evasive and rehearsed responses only made things worse for Biden. Instead of defending his energy and vitality, she conceded that Biden had been in politics since before Tapper was born. Her defense was that Biden’s “wisdom and experience” made up for his age, but this argument only served to highlight how Biden had been in office for far too long. Tapper himself pointed out that polls consistently show that Americans don’t think Biden is delivering.

Jean-Pierre’s attempts to change the subject to Biden’s record fell flat and Tapper was quick to remind her that he was specifically talking about Biden’s age and stamina. When Jean-Pierre brought up Biden’s trip to Ukraine, she conveniently forgot to mention the President’s numerous embarrassing moments, such as calling out for dead members of Congress during speeches.

Despite Tapper stressing repeatedly that 77 percent of Americans are concerned about Biden’s age, Jean-Pierre refused to address the issue. She instead dismissively claimed to have had conversations with White House press corps colleagues about how “hard it is to keep up” with Biden. Her constant attempts to push aside the age question only served to reinforce the idea that the administration is in denial about Biden’s fitness to serve.

The fact remains that the American people are rightfully concerned about Biden’s age and stamina. With each passing day, it becomes increasingly clear that the former Vice President is not up to the task of leading this country. It is time for the White House to stop making excuses and start listening to the concerns of the American people. A change is needed before it is too late.
