The White House rapid response account RapidResponse47 on Tuesday night called attention to press seating that it said was blocked from seeing the event, pointing to obstructed views created by press risers and a flag.
In a post published at 1:49 a.m., the account wrote that the seats in question were placed directly behind equipment and a banner, leaving an entire section without a clear line of sight.
RapidResponse47 wrote: "These seats are obviously obstructed by the press risers — and in one of the photos, a giant flag is literally hanging in front of the entire section! Why would we seat people there?"
The account added: "The Fake News is endless."
Questions Raised About Seating Arrangement
The post questioned the decision to place press in that section at all, asking why anyone would be seated behind visual barriers. The account did not identify the specific event or the outlet affected, nor did it name who made the seating decision.
The message from the rapid response account surfaced hours after the event in question. It pointed to photographs showing the obstructed view, including one in which a large flag hangs in front of the seating block.
Press seating at White House events is arranged by staff, typically with designated areas for print, radio, television and wire correspondents.
The account's statement stands as a direct criticism of how the press area was set up and a broader jab at coverage it characterizes as adversarial. No further response from the White House press office was included in the post.
