Doctor Rachel Levine, Joe Biden’s Assistant Health Secretary of the United States, spoke about pushing more gender affirmation treatments on America’s youth.
The wild new declaration by one of America’s most powerful doctors came during a Monday appearance on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports”. They were having a discussion about transgender kids in the country and the kind of harassment they face in the modern day.
“Well, you know, trans youth are vulnerable, and they suffer significant harassment and bullying, sometimes in schools or their community,” Levine said.
The doctor continued, focusing on the mental health issues these young Americans face while also suggesting the two are not related, “They have more mental health issues, but there’s nothing inherent with being transgender or gender diverse, which would predispose youth to depression or anxiety. It’s that harassment and bullying.”
Levine declared that the anti-trans bullying had evolved into full out political attacks, with no real motivation other than to whip up votes, “Now they are suffering politically motivated attacks through state actions against these vulnerable transgender youth. This is not based upon data. These actions are politically motivated.”
It was at that point that Dr Rachel Levine declared the only way to stop the bullying was to push “gender-affirmation” treatments on young kids who want them. “And so we really want to base our treatment and affirm and to support and empower these youth, not to limit their participation activities in sports and even limit their ability to get gender-affirmation treatment in their state.”
Despite the top doc’s enthusiasm for the controversial treatments, many other health officials have questioned the dangers of interfering with natural puberty in a child. Others have said that the permanence of some of these treatments shouldn’t be an option for people under the age of 18.
Do you think Joe Biden will make gender-affirmation treatments a key part of his platform after Dr. Levine’s new statement? Does taking up issues like this help or hurt the Democrat party in the long run?
