The United States and its allies are on the brink of a disastrous weapons crisis, and it’s all thanks to billions of dollars in transfers to Ukraine. National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby has sounded the alarm, saying that we are literally in a gun fight, and we are losing because we’re running out of inventory.

This dire situation has forced the U.S. to ramp up production of the kind of artillery shells that Ukraine uses most. However, the production rate is still not where we need it to be. Our arsenal is so depleted that President Joe Biden has admitted in a CNN interview that he had to send cluster bombs, which are banned in hundreds of countries, to Ukraine due to the weapons shortage.
The weapons crisis is a grave concern for lawmakers, who are scrambling to figure out why U.S. weapons production and manufacturing has been outsourced to China. This outsourcing has made our nation vulnerable and could have disastrous consequences in the future.
If we do not address this weapons shortage soon, we could face catastrophic consequences. Our enemies are aware of this vulnerability, and they will undoubtedly use it against us. The danger is compounded by the fact that Ukraine is in the midst of a dire conflict with Russia, and we cannot afford to let them down.

Furthermore, the outsourcing of U.S. weapons production and manufacturing to China has not only put our national security in jeopardy but also has dangerous implications for our economy. We are essentially funding China’s military industrial complex, which is rapidly overtaking our own. This is a grave threat to our nation’s sovereignty, and action must be taken immediately.
The U.S. must take back control of our weapons supply chain from China and invest heavily in domestic manufacturing. We cannot afford to let our enemies exploit our weaknesses any longer. The fate of our nation depends on it.
