The Democrats have once again shown their true colors in a shocking display of racism during proceedings in the House chamber. Majority Leader Steve Scalise was interrupted by a belligerent Democrat who yelled “your bills are racist!” while Scalise spoke to his colleagues. The outburst came after the GOP-led House passed the first of 12 annual appropriations bills. Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) was identified as the shouty culprit, and rather than apologize for her appalling behavior, she owned up to it by saying “I said what I said” on social media accompanied by a shrugging emoji.

It’s not just baseless name-calling, either. The House approved a spending bill to fund military construction, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and related agencies in fiscal year 2024 by a vote of 219-211. Although every single Democrat voted against the bill, nearly all but two Republicans upheld their duty to their constituents and voted in favor of funding the VA. It’s clear which party actually cares about meeting the needs of our veterans.

But if the Democrats continue their obstructionist ways, this vote may not be enough to prevent a government shutdown. If an appropriations agreement isn’t reached, federal employees could be looking at an extended period of uncertainty while the Democrats play political games with their livelihoods. It’s no wonder that hardworking Americans are increasingly turning to the Republican Party for leadership in these trying times.

House Minority Whip Katherine Clark (D-MA) took the opportunity to spew leftist talking points during the proceedings, calling for the rejection of “extremism, hatred, and bigotry” that is supposedly built into the appropriation bills. This is just more evidence of the Democrats’ alarming push towards radical Marxism. They’re trying to distract from their own failures by throwing around buzzwords and attempting to shame their political opponents into submission. But we won’t be intimidated by their tactics.

In the coming months, Republicans will continue to fight for a fair and just government that prioritizes the needs of everyday Americans. We will not be swayed by the ramblings of extremists like Cori Bush or the manipulative rhetoric of the Democrats. We have a responsibility to our constituents, and we will not fail them. The future of our country depends on it.
