On Saturday, President Donald Trump endorsed House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. This is despite him being booed at a recent Trump rally in Wyoming.
Watch the clip below showing McCarthy getting a negative reaction from the pro-MAGA crowd.
“Hello, Wyoming. I’m Kevin McCarthy,” said the Minority Leader before the Trump supportes started booing.
The rally was being held to drum up support for Rep. Liz Cheney’s opponent, Harriet Hagemen, in the upcoming Republican primary.
Trump has officially endorsed McCarthy in his House race despite the negative reaction from his fans at the rally.
“In Congress, Kevin is a tireless advocate for the people of Bakersfield and the Central Valley. He is working incredibly hard to Stop Inflation, Deliver Water Solutions, and Hold Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi Accountable for their catastrophic failures and dereliction of duty,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Kevin McCarthy has my Complete and Total Endorsement.”

Back in April, a secret recording of Kevin McCarthy was leaked to MSNBC. On the call with Liz Cheney and other House Republicans, the leader told Liz Cheney that he was going to counsel Trump to resign.
“I think [impeachment resolutions] will pass, and it would be my recommendation you should resign,” McCarthy proclaimed. About Trump’s actions taken on January 6, he said, “what he did is unacceptable. Nobody can defend that and nobody should defend it.”
McCarthy did not ask Trump to resign and instead flew to Mar-a-Lago and was pictured with him. Despite this, the boos at the rally show that Trump supporters are wary of McCarthy’s leadership.

In a speech on January 13, 2021, McCarthy said: “The president bears responsibility for Wednesday’s attack on Congress by mob rioters. He should have immediately denounced the mob when he saw what was unfolding.”
McCarthy has publicly backed Trump and is in the former President’s corner against the January 6 committee. He is currently running for reelection in California and is slated to win fairly easily.
