Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) forced the American Family Planning Abortion Clinic in (AFPAC) in Pensacola to shutter after the incidents were filed by anti-abortion watchdog Reprotection. Reprotection was alerted by local watchdog group Emerald Coast Coalition for Life.

It was reported that the clinic allegedly had to stop an abortion being performed on a 19-weeks pregnant patient due to excessive blood loss from cervical lacerations and possible uterine rupture. The emergency order said she lost either 250 or 750 milliliters of blood and she needed a laparoscopy and a possible C-section.

She was taken to a hospital in Mobile by her husband where she was given transfusions for “egregious blood loss” and resuscitated.

The second woman was hospitalized following massive blood loss after her abortion. Emergency Respondents described seeing “pools of blood” on the floor. During both incidents the clinic allegedly failed to monitor the women’s vital signs.

According to a report from the Daily Caller, who spoke to Reprotection CEO Missy Martinez-Stone, other complaints included “women with cervical lacerations and excessive blood loss, clinic workers failing to meet requirements about monitoring patients’ vital signs such as blood pressure, including during medical emergencies, and a doctor who admitted to not knowing what emergency protocols were in place.”

According to local NPR affiliate WUWF, Julie Gallagher, the clinic’s attorney said, “It must be pointed out that AHCA’s suspension is based on two, and only two, patients out of over 100,000 patients served. AHCA is focusing only on two patients where there were issues, and ignoring 999,998 patients where there were no such issues.”

It was also noted in the Pensacola News Journal that the manager of the abortion clinic has no medical or clinical licenses.

This incident is so disgusting, it’s hard to see how even pro-abortion people could defend this clinic. Do you think that abortion clinics are generally underregulated regardless of the state they are in?
