Donald Trump has fired back at one of his top campaign and later White House advisors, Kellyanne Conway, after she claimed in a new book to have revealed his 2020 loss to him.
Conway is currently promoting her new tell-all book, “Here’s the Deal”. In it she tells that she was the first member of Trump’s inside circle to approach the President and tell him he lost to Biden.
Speaking to ABC’s The View, Conway said: ‘It’s pretty obvious that Joe Biden is the president. I can’t believe we’re still talking about this, respectfully. I’m the closest person to Donald Trump to tell him the earliest that he came up short. It broke my heart, I wanted him to get reelected,’ the former presidential adviser said.”
Former President Trump, however, took to Truth social to say that her account of what happened is completely untrue.
“Kellyanne Conway never told me that she thought we lost the election,” Trump said. “If she had I wouldn’t have deal with her any longer – she would have been wrong – could go back to her crazy husband.”
Kellyanne Conway’s husband, George Conway, was one of the founding members of the anti-Trump Republican group, the Lincoln Project, and frequently fought with his wife’s boss while he was in office.
Trump went on to suggest that the alleged lie from Conway was simply a symptom of writing a book, saying people who write them say some “very strange things.” He was implying that publishers push his former allies to write controversial and untrue things to sell copies.
President Trump has dealt with plenty of tell-all books from people like Kellyanne Conway and others who worked for him throughout his career. Each one purports to contain some sort of new information exposing some secret of the former President.
Up until recently, Kellyanne Conway was one of Trump’s closest allies in politics and played a pivotal role in his 2016 election victory. Despite this new dispute, do you think Trump should bring her back for the 2024 election?
