Former President Donald Trump blasted former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan over the weekend, demanding that FOX News remove Ryan from their board for speaking ill of the former President.
Paul Ryan, who has been working to reelect incumbent GOP Rep Tom Rice in South Carolina, had mentioned the vote to impeach Trump over the January 6 riot. According to Ryan, there were a significant number of GOP congressmen who wanted to impeach Trump over the storming of the capital but “didn’t have the guts”.
The former House Speaker added, “There are a lot of people who say they’re going to vote their conscience, they’re going to vote for the Constitution, they’re going to vote for their convictions but when it gets hard to do that they don’t do it.”
He then concluded his statement, sayin, “That’s not who voters want, voters want people focused on their solutions not on Trump’s vengeance and that to me is a really clear cut case here.”
However, the former president quickly took notice of Ryan’s perceived slight, and immediately launched into a tirade on Truth Social, attacking Paul Ryan and FOX News for hiring him.
“Did anyone notice that Fox News went lame (bad!) when weak RINO Paul Ryan, who is despised in the Great State of Wisconsin for being ‘a pathetic loser,’ went on the Fox Board,”
Trump also repeated his claims about the 2020 presidential election contest against Joe Biden.
The ex-president then added, “That’s why our Country is going to HELL – Elections have consequences. Get Ryan off your Board and report the News as it should be reported. And stop taking negative ads from the perverts, and others!!!”
Trump failed to name who the alleged “perverts” that FOX News is supposedly taking money from.
Donald Trump is currently backing a newcomer candidate state Rep. Russell Fry to oust Rep. Rice in the Republican primary after Rice voted to impeach the former President over January 6.
Despite Paul Ryan’s claims about what voters want, Trump’s endorsement has still been very impactful on Republican primary voters, specifically when electing federal positions. According to Ballotpedia, he has a 93% endorsement success rate in primary elections for 2022. It is still too early to know how these candidates will fare in the general election.
Donald Trump and Paul Ryan have feuded ever since Ryan retired from politics. Despite this, Paul Ryan was a very effective House Speaker for Trump specifically, helping lead much of his legislative goals successfully through Congress. Do you think the former House Speaker believes what he is saying or does he simply just hate the ex-President?
