Mass Shooting At Illinois July 4 Parade

On Monday, multiple people are likely dead after a mass shooting at a 4th of July parade in Highland Park, Illinois.

Watch video of parade watchers running once they heard the sounds of gunfire. It took some people a minute to register it.

Witnesses say there were 5 bloodied people lying on the ground after people fled, according to the Chicago Sun Times. There were allegedly 20 shots fired as well.

The suspect is confirmed to be on the loose and k-9 units have called in to find them. The Highland Park Police Department said that the shooting is currently “active.”

“Highland Park Police are responding to an incident in downtown Highland Park,” warned Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering. “Fourth Fest has been canceled. Please avoid downtown Highland Park. More information will be shared as it becomes available.”

The Lake County Sheriff’s Department did also confirm the shooting and told people to stay away.

Witnesses told WGN that the shooter was firing from the roof of a store on Central avenue. He may be barricaded inside the store.
