FOX News’s Chief White House Correspondent Peter Doocy asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre why so many Americans believe the country is on the wrong track under Biden.

The heated exchange came during Thursday’s press briefing. Doocy referenced recent polling which showed a huge majority of the country is worried about our direction.

“Why do you think it is that 88% of people in this country polled by Monmouth believe the country is on the wrong track?” Doocy asked Jean-Pierre.

The Press Secretary was quick to defend her boss, trying to instead lay the blame at the feet of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his alleged “tax hike”.

“I’ll say this, the president understands what the American people are going through,” Jean-Pierre replied. “He understands that gas prices are high because of Putin’s tax hike, because of the brutal war that Putin has taken on in Ukraine and their brave fight to fight for their democracy. That’s what we’re seeing here. And also the food security, the food cost has skyrocketed.”

Despite her claims, most economists agree that the US was doing poorly and inflation was rising quickly before Russia ever invaded Ukraine.

Karine Jean-Pierre also cited Biden releasing of 1 million barrels of oil per day from the US Strategic Petroleum Reserves as an example of the President working to reduce the cost of his policies on Americans.

Despite his bragging about activating the reserve, a recent report found that Joe Biden has already shipped over 5 million of the newly released barrels to Europe and Asia, with a large part of those going directly to China.

She closed the conversation out by saying that Biden “has a plan” to fix the country that many people feel he broke while insisting Republicans do not.

“We understand what the American people are feeling. We are doing everything that we can,” she told Doocy. “We have a plan, that’s the thing. We have a plan. Republicans do not have a plan. What they want to do is take away rights from the American people.”

The White House likes to claim that the American people can see through the alleged “media spin” against their boss and know his work is actually helping. Do you know of anyone who thinks the country is doing better under Biden? Do you think they exist at this point?
