After months of trial and error, the daytime TV show “The View” has reportedly decided on a new conservative personality to replace former host Meghan McCain.
The huge role is supposedly being handed off to President Donald Trump’s former White House Communications Director, Alyssa Farah Griffin. According to the report from DailyMail.com, the 33 year old staunch conservative will be named as a permanent co-host beginning in the 26th season.
On August 6th, 2021, McCain, who is the daughter of the late US Senator John McCain left the show, leaving a gap on set for a new conservative voice. Since then The View has tested out multiple potential personalities, including Farah Griffin.
While ABC seems happy with the decision, multiple sources told DailyMail that not all of the hosts are on-board with working alongside a Trump supporter.
One source said, “Her soon to be co-hosts are very upset. They feel she isn’t authentic and changes her opinions based on who her paymaster is. Ana Navarro especially feels let down as they are hiring someone who was an essential part of the movement that destabilized this country.”
“Alyssa’s family is also problematic. Her father Joseph founded WorldNetDaily a website that promotes conspiracy theories. It’s terrifying.”
Another source told the paper, “My jaw dropped when I was told that she was the pick. It makes no sense. Part of me wishes they just leaned into MAGA and hired Kimberly Guilfoyle, at least it would better reflect part of the audience and there would be fireworks every day.”
A third source added, “Her appointment will also cost us bookings. Wanda Sykes pulled out because she didn’t want to be on the show with her.”
While the sources were all adamant that the final decision has already been made, a spokesperson from ABC was far more vague when approached on the issue, saying, “We do not have a co-host announcement to make at this time. Stay tuned.”
The decision to name someone so close to the former president to “The View” is a sensible decision. Still, many within the MAGA movement view Farah Griffin as a traitor for her condemnation of Trump following the January 6th assault on the US Capitol.
