On Thursday, California Democrat Rep. Linda Sanchez put on a tacky display and flicked off Republican congressman during the 2022 Congressional Baseball Game.
The game annually raises money for a charity and is the 87th time they have held it. This year they were raising money for Boys and Girls Club of D.C.
The incident happened when Democrats were down by 5 runs so it is unclear if she did it out of protest, media attention, or maybe she was just mad about losing.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who coached the Democrats, said to Fox News’ Chad Pergram by saying that the love of baseball brings them together.
“This game is so great and people are so nice. That’s what makes it great that we’re competitive, and it’s great to be here and have a little fun,” said the Speaker.
The clip drew dissent from Republicans on twitter after it went viral. Nick Adams wrote, “Rep. Linda Sanchez is classless. Giving the middle finger to the GOP Baseball team is hateful and divisive.”
Mark Walker wrote, “Congresswoman Linda Sanchez flipping off Republicans in a charity game to support the Boys and Girls Club of DC. Sad!”
Benn Johnson called her a “nasty, disgusting slob” and a “Perfect representation of the modern Left:”
After the game, the GOP official Twitter account mocked the Democrats for the shutout, “This 10-0 shutout at the #CongressionalBaseballGame is only a preview of what’s coming in November!”
If you remember, Steve Scalise was attacked five years ago at a practice ahead of the game by a deranged left-winger stormed the field and started trying to kill Republican congressman. Four of them were injured in the attack.
“5 years ago my colleagues & I were attacked playing baseball—because we’re Republicans. We didn’t let it stop us then & nothing will stop us now. It’s been a long journey, but tonight we play the Congressional Baseball Game—5 years stronger.”
