Who would have thought that we would see the day when a governor would be begging citizens to vote to harm unborn babies? Yet, here we are. California Governor Gavin Newsom is flooding the airwaves with ads pleading with voters to approve Proposition 1, which puts unborn babies directly in the crosshairs.

With new campaign television ads across California, Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom is making abortion a top priority.
According to the Daily Wire, Rather than trying to promote himself, the current governor is promoting an initiative going before voters on the ballot this fall. A total of $2.5 million was spent on the ad buy. As part of a broader $5 million television ad campaign, this initial advertisement is considered a donation in favor of the measure.
A series of advertisements from Newsom will run for two weeks telling Californians to support Proposition 1, which would give the state’s citizens the right to abortion and birth control.
On Twitter, alongside an ad, Newsom wrote, “Across the country, clinics that provide abortions are being shut down by extreme [GOP] politicians. Fundamental freedoms are vanishing. Women are under attack. This November, we say NOT here.”
The California voter information guide says that voting yes on the proposition would mean “[t]he California Constitution would be changed to expressly include existing rights to reproductive freedom—such as the right to choose whether or not to have an abortion and use contraceptives.”
This isn’t the first initiative Newsom has taken to promote abortion in his state.
Last month, we reported that the state of California created an abortion website to provide information about abortion clinics for residents and out-of-state women.
Newsom announced the launch of the website to combat pro-life legislation in Republican-led states on Twitter.
The idea that a governor would actively campaign for the termination of unborn babies is abhorrent and disheartening. It’s a sad reflection on the state of our society that taking the lives of innocent babies has become something to be voted on and even celebrated. Despite what pro-choice advocates may claim, abortion is not just a woman’s issue – it affects us all. Governor Newsom’s support for Proposition 1 only serves to further devalue human life and sends the message that some lives are not as valuable or worthy of protection as others. We must stand up against this atrocity and fight for the rights of all human beings, no matter their age or stage of development. As a society, we can do better than this. And it starts with rejecting propositions like Proposition 1 and defending the sanctity of every human life.
