As part of his get-out-the-vote effort, Illinois Democrat Governor JB Pritzker headlined a drag show and political rally at the Baton Show Lounge on Tuesday night.
POLITICO reports, during the ‘Drag ‘Em to the Polls’ event, Pritzker called his opponent, Republican state Sen. Darren Bailey, “a guy supported by racist, misogynist, homophobic, xenophobic organizations and people Like Donald Trump. … There’s so much at stake.”
The issue of drag shows, in which people dress as the opposite sex perform lip-synching performances, has become a political hot-button in the last few years.
Pritzker signed legislation in 2019 that required public schools to teach students about how lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people contributed to U.S. and Illinois history before they completed eighth grade, while Darren Bailey has consistently condemned drag performances.
Between drag-show performances, Pritzker left, leaving Illinois Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, state Rep. Kelly Cassidy, secretary of state candidate Alexi Giannoulias, and state Rep. Lisa Hernandez to rally the crowd and tip the drag performers.
That’s right Congresswoman Jan Shakowsky was photographed tipping a drag performer.
Democrat Beverly Miles, who challenged Pritzer in the primary this year, slammed him for attending the drag show instead of two press conferences regarding a drive-by mass shooting that occurred on the West Side of Chicago on Halloween night.
Miles tweeted, “JB Pritzker headlined a drag show but failed to attend two press conferences on the westside of Chicago! Two press conferences, no JB, no Tammy Duckworth and no Lori Lightfoot. The westside mass shooting demands the same sense of urgency as highland park”
This all comes as, in advance of Tuesday’s midterms, President Joe Biden will stump in Illinois on Friday, and Vice President Kamala Harris will visit Chicago on Sunday.
NBC Chicago reports that in a get-out-the-vote rally for Gov. J.B. Pritzker and the rest of the Democratic ticket, Biden will focus on boosting suburban Chicago congressional incumbents in tight races.
In the wake of increasing political correctness and left-wing overreach, it’s more important than ever to protect traditional American values. That’s why the recent decision by Illinois Democrat Governor JB Pritzker to headline a drag show is so concerning. At a time when communities are struggling with gun violence, drug addiction, and other real issues, Pritzker is instead pandering to a fringe minority. What’s even more troubling is that he signed legislation earlier this year requiring public schools to teach students about LGBT history. I still don’t know what your sexual orination has to do with any historical actions, but this is clearly an attempt to indoctrinate children into accepting a lifestyle that is contrary to traditional morality. It’s time for a red wave in November. We need to elect Republicans, like Darren Bailey, who will stand up for our values and protect our children. Only then can we create safe communities where we can all thrive.
