A sad day indeed for the Raskin family as a life changing cancer diagnosis was just announced for the representative.
Cancer is a scourge on the people of this world and despite trillions of dollars in research, there is still little hope for many cures of cancer. But with modern medicine and early detection, modern science is giving people a fighting chance now.Â
Fox news reports. Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., announced Wednesday that he has been diagnosed with Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma, a serious but curable cancer.
Raskin, who led impeachment efforts for former President Donald Trump’s second impeachment and is now on the Jan. 6 Committee.
Watch
According to Raskin, he expects to be able to continue working through treatment, but was told by his doctors to be cautious and reduce unnecessary exposure to COVID-19, the flu, or any other viruses.
Chemotherapy may weaken the immune system, making it more susceptible to infections.
There have been recent breakthroughs in cancer research.Â
Independent reports, A new way of using DNA to kill cancer cells which could pave the way for a cure for the disease has been created by scientists.
The method targets human cervical cancer and breast cancer-derived cells, as well as malignant melanoma cells in mice.
It uses a pair of hair clip shaped, cancer-killing DNA which were injected into cancer cells.
When they were injected into them, they connected to molecules called microRNA which are overproduced in certain cancers.
In conjunction with microRNA, they unraveled and formed longer chains of DNA, which triggered an immune response.
MicroRNA cells overproduced by the immune system were recognized as dangerous, triggering a natural immune response to kill them.
According to the Japanese researchers, their method may herald in a new era of cancer drugs.
Representative Jamie Raskin is in for a long road ahead but we wish him the best of luck. Cancer Sucks. Plain and simple. Further we hope that cancer research finally progresses enough to cure all forms of cancer early on, and we can end the scourge of cancer on humanity.Â
