A national park in Florida was closed after it was invaded by over 500 illegal immigrants who came ashore, forcing a massive response from law enforcement.
Ny post reports,
In what local officials described as a major crisis, some 500 migrants arrived in the Florida Keys over the weekend from Cuba and other parts of the Caribbean.
As a result of the arrivals, authorities closed Dry Tortugas National Park, where some 300 migrants arrived over New Year’s and were met by first responders who provided aid, including food.
About the same time, 160 migrants landed by boat in other parts of the Florida Keys.
The park is to remain closed for a few days, as the federal government is working on a response.
Abc news reports, the closure “is expected to last several days,” a statement released by the park said.
“Like elsewhere in the Florida Keys, the park has recently seen an increase in people arriving by boat from Cuba and landing on the islands of Dry Tortugas National Park. Park first responders provide food, water and basic medical attention until the Department of Homeland Security arrives and takes the lead,” the statement said.
Enid Magari said he was camping in Dry Tortugas National Park when he saw groups of migrants arriving on shore. He tweeted “I was camping at Dry Tortugas for New Years. When we arrived on Dec 31st there were ~80 migrants, by mid day Jan 1 there were close to 300 and we were informed we needed to leave the island. I witnessed 4 such landings myself…”
Enid Magari also captured the illegals coming to shore. Watch.
It is clear that the Federal government knew about the boat loads of people heading to our shores, and chose to do little to stop them from getting here. This just further highlights the fact that the Biden administration is failing in its constitutional duty to protect our borders, enforce the law, and provide basic security for our national sovereignty. All of those issues should be impeachable offenses, it is a wonder why nobody is attempting to use the law, and the constitution to force the President’s hand when it comes to enforcing our nation’s laws.
