Not many public figures are able to possess the mental discipline required to think twice before responding or making unwise comments in the heat of the moment. But Joy Behar is one name frequently used as an example of a person that does not know when to bit her tongue. With her latest remarks related to 2a lovers, some would say she has gone too far. This lady needs a Xanax for the country’s sake.
The case of a 6-year-old shooting his teacher in Virginia has left the nation reeling, as well as shocked by some of the reactions to it. Joy Behar, co-host to The View, pointedly blamed gun owners and other gun rights activists for the tragedy in an emotional outpouring that indiscriminately denigrated law-abiding second amendment supporters across the US. While America is far from perfect, especially because of people like her, her comments were typical, divisive, and pathetic to many people who choose to exercise their second amendment rights peacefully. It is without question difficult to make sense of such tragic stories but instead of attacking responsible gun lovers across the country we should seek out constructive solutions.
News Buster reports, on Thursday, co-host Joy Behar blasted law-abiding gun owners and gun rights advocates via The View after a teacher was shot by a 6-year-old in a Virginia school, where officials ignored multiple warnings that the kid had a gun.
According to her, those millions of Americans have a “mental illness,” and they must be stopped “immediately.”
The argument Behar made clearly refers to private gun ownership and supporter for the Second Amendment, saying: “There’s like a mental illness going on in the country that has to be stopped immediately.” Adding that President Biden’s efforts to stop them have been undermined by “people who are getting money from the gun lobby and who want to keep [mass shootings] going.”
Don’t just take my word for it, TAKE A LOOK For yourself
What The View and ABC News failed to tell viewers is that a comprehensive Georgetown University study conducted last year found “that guns are used defensively by firearms owners in approximately 1.67 million incidents per year.”
The self-described conservative Alyssa Farah Griffin gave a weak endorsement to gun rights and stepped into the conversation; failing to tell viewers that a comprehensive Georgetown University study conducted last year found “that guns are used defensively by firearms owners in approximately 1.67 million incidents per year.”
She isn’t completely wrong but she could have tried a bit harder there, maybe it’s the handsome salary getting to her. Who knows…
The facts were mocked by Behar and she went on to say: “They have mentally ill people in the European Union, don’t they? So, the one thing they don’t have is access to guns. So, this mental health idea is baloney. It’s baloney,” she flailed.
Farah Griffin pushed back, “I don’t think it is baloney though. Because again, I can own a gun my whole life and never use it to commit a crime.”
The best part was the fact that Behar was made to read a fact-check of her dubious comparison of the U.S. to Venezuela and Brazil. TAKE A LOOK as she had to correct herself>>>>
Hey! We have to hold them to their own standards. We didn’t set them, they did.
Joy Behar routinely speaks out against gun ownership as if she knows best. The truth is, many of us ‘everyday Americans’ have no choice but to own firearms for personal protection in our homes and communities. If we had private security officers at our beck and call like Behar does, we wouldn’t need guns. But instead of recognizing the reality that we all have different life experiences to draw from, Behar condescendingly lectures the nation about gun control from her position of privilege. I challenge Behar to go just one year without her celebrity status and take on our reality — firsthand — so she can understand why some people rely on guns for safety and security.
