Busiest Airport Gets Unwelcome SURGE of Homeless Residents As Critics Cry ‘None Of Us Feel Safe

For most people, the thought of flying is daunting enough, but imagine being welcomed with an insane homeless crisis at one of the world’s busiest airports: O’Hare International!

Shockingly, liberal policies have given these dangerous encampments a foothold and Chicagoans are making troubling reports of feeling unsafe while inside the terminal. Reports further state that due to the large size of the homeless population, people feel as though they are being harassed and followed by them.

Daily wire reports. There are now homeless encampments inside Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, one of the world’s busiest airports.

Haymarket Center’s O’Hare outreach program director Jessica Dubuar admitted that her organization served 25% more people in 2022 than 2021.

One traveler tweeted “I flew back to O’Hare, Terminal 3, last week. I had never seen such a homeless problem, in baggage, in the 50 years I have lived in Cook Co. It’s not even that cold out! Also, aggresively hit-up with “ya need a ride?” in baggage. It was dystopian.”

O’Hare Airport tweeted the same response to three different people who complained to the airport about the homelessness problem. Another person tweeted: “How are we now letting homeless into the airport waiting area?! It isn’t safe to have this happening when visitors or frequent fliers coming home are being now asked for money and help after getting our luggage. We need this to stop!”

To that O’hare airport replied “We appreciate your feedback.  Safety, security and an optimal passenger experience is top priority for the CDA, and we have forwarded your message along to our security team. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and hope your next visit to ORD is more enjoyable.”

D220 insider tweeted “This picture of a homeless encampment was taken today at  O’Hare @fly2ohare Terminal 1 baggage claim. Chicago needs better leadership.”

That twitter user also got the same response from O’Hare airport.

Chicago Department of Aviation said it is aware of the increasing number of unsheltered individuals at O’Hare International Airport, they stated “It’s a common occurrence at this airport and airports nationwide when temperatures drop in the winter months. The CDA remains committed to working with its partners at the Chicago Fire Department (CFD), the Chicago Police Department (CPD), and other governmental and community-based organizations to support those in need and connect them with available resources in Chicago,”

It is insane that O’Hare Airport, the world’s busiest airport, is facing such unsafe and scary conditions due to liberal policies and neglecting the homeless population. Passengers are feeling intimidated by mobs of homeless people living in the terminals. Mayor Lightfoot failed Chicago by putting policies in place that allowed these tent cities to pop up in one of the nations premier airports. It’s unsettling to know that people are being harassed and followed while having their basic needs ignored too; passengers truly aren’t safe inside the airport which has been accused of endangering them. Ultimately, it is painfully obvious that security breaches at O’Hare are overshadowing safety concerns while leaving many wondering how safe it is to fly.
