In a shocking turn of events, Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman’s family fled the country at the time when he probably needed them the most. Last week, the Democrat Senator was admitted to a hospital for clinical depression, and now his wife Gisele is admitting that she abandoned him and left with their kids, leaving him alone to deal with whatever is troubling him in the medical facility by himself.
Social media users are slamming the wife of Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania for “abandoning” him during his hospitalization for clinical depression. After he was admitted, Gisele Fetterman said she immediately left the country.
The Daily Wire reports, after suffering a major stroke during last year’s campaign against Trump-backed candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz, Fetterman checked himself into a hospital for a multi-week treatment regimen after the physician for the Senate recommended he do so.
Now, John’s wife, Gisele Fetterman, has revealed that she took her family to vacation in Canada after her husband was admitted to the hospital.
In a Twitter thread, she wrote, “I am not really sure how to navigate this journey but i’m figuring it out slowly. 1 week ago today when the news dropped, the kids were off from school and media trucks circled our home. I did the first thing I could think of … pack them in the car and drive.”
She continued, “We drove straight into … Canada (and lovely Buffalo NY) (Pro Tip: always have passports ready just in case you have to run away) We talked about lots of hard things and how we will all have to face hard things. About the need to be gentle … with all and with ourselves.”
In a final tweet that included a short video clip and a photo of her and the couple’s kids, she added, “We did some scary things but we did them together. We ziplined over Niagara Falls and August got stuck. We talked about flexibility and the need to always have an open heart and an open mind”

Defense of Freedom Institute spokeswoman Angela Morabito wrote on Twitter, “She abandoned her husband in the hospital, took her kids to another country, and wants you to believe she’s inspirational.”
Michael Duncan of the Cavalry public affairs firm added, “In any good prenup this behavior would immediately annul the marriage. I still can’t believe [the tweet is] real, this is textbook malignant narcissist behavior.”
And Seattle-based conservative radio host Jason Rantz noted, “Sen. John Fetterman’s (D-PA) wife brags about abandoning her husband in the hospital and fleeing the country on vacation while he battles severe depression.”
It is hard to imagine the worst way a wife could respond when her husband is admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with clinical depression. Gisele Fetterman not only failed to be there for her husband, but she made the situation a whole lot worse by openly admitting that she fled with their children leaving him alone in his time of need. It is a tragically saddening matter that has earned Gisele the worst wife award, prompting an understandable wave of criticism and backlash from stunned onlookers on social media.
