UVA Grabs Ex-Congresswoman Liz Cheney For School of Politics Faculty

Liz Cheney’s defeat in her re-election bid elicited a huge cheer from the country, especially conservatives. Many had been hoping that she would lose and they were delighted when it finally happened. Well the wicked witch of rhinos has recently announced what she will be doing next and unfortunately it’s not serving at a McDonald. It’s much worse.

Former Congresswoman Liz Cheney has found a new path to follow after her departure from the United States House of Representatives earlier this year. This week, it was announced that she would be joining the faculty at the University of Virginia as their newest professor of politics. She will allegedly bring many years of experience from Washington with her to this role, and while her research interests are not yet known, it will surely be both “insightful “and “beneficial “to UVA students.

Daily wire reports, Liz Cheney has landed a new job as a professor of politics at the University of Virginia after serving as a member of Congress for several years.

The UVA Center for Politics announced the hire on Wednesday. Cheney will join the school’s faculty as a professor of practice and teach seminars and do research.

The only people that seemed to care about the none-news was ABC news.

In 2021, Cheney was one of ten Republicans who voted for impeaching former President Donald Trump. As a result, in the midterm elections in 2022, she was embarrassingly primaried out of her seat.

University of Virginia President Jim Ryan said in his announcement, “With democracy under fire in this country and elsewhere around the world, Liz Cheney serves as a model of political courage and leadership,” Sabato added in the news release. “Liz will send a compelling message to students about integrity. She’s a true profile in courage, and she was willing to pay the price for her principles and democracy itself.”

Sure, Ryan. I’m sure parents will just be dying to send their kids there because of Cheney.

It’s a tough call to watch a reputed educational institution like UVA make a risky decision like inviting Liz Cheney onto their staff. Her politics and ties to her dad take up way more airtime than any of the actual work she does, so it’s easy to understand why local places wouldn’t even want to touch that bad publicity. I’m sure UVA didn’t jump into this lightly, but it still feels like a betrayal of their mission as educators. We can only “hope” they know what they’re doing with such an important decision and we’ll have to wait to see if they decide to keep her on after the fall
