President Donald Trump electrified the stage at CPAC over the weekend with an amazing speech that had the entire audience on their feet cheering. But he didn’t just move them with his words – he also won big in the final straw poll vote, a landslide victory that only serves to confirm how popular and admired the MAGA movement still is among conservatives around the country. There’s no doubt about it: for conservatives far and wide, President Trump remains a powerful force to be reckoned with.
President Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential straw poll at the Conservative Political Action Conference Saturday.
In the straw poll, Trump received 62% of the vote compared to 10% for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who did not attend. In third place was Michigan billionaire Perry Johnson, followed by Nikki Haley in fourth place and Vivek Ramasway in fifth place.
During his speech at the conference, Trump called the results of the straw poll a “big win.”
As noted by the Daily Wire, the support for Johnson, whose bid to be governor of Michigan was scuttled last year before the general election, was a blow to other Republicans who have declared or are believed to be running, such as former Vice President Mike Pence, former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
As for the vice president, Kari Lake led with 20% support, followed by Ron DeSantis with 14%. The poll was completed by more than 2,000 attendees, according to organizers.
Meanwhile, during his CPAC keynote address, Trump referred to the 2024 contest as “the final battle” and acknowledged that he was wiser now about Washington’s workings.
As Trump concluded the conference, he presented himself as the ultimate leader to take on Democrats and Republicans.
President Donald Trump dazzled the crowd at CPAC this past weekend with an incredible speech that left everyone in attendance on their feet. But if his words weren’t enough to prove his popularity and support, the results of the straw poll certainly confirmed it; in a landslide victory, 62% voted for Trump compared to Governor Ron DeSantis’ mere 10%. It’s clear that no matter where you turn, conservatives are still standing firmly behind Trump and the MAGA movement. While some may have counted out Trump for 2024 already, it appears that the American people are ready to vote him in for another term and reclaim the White House.
