The state of our border security has never been more precarious. Our brave border patrol agents are now stuck with the task of protecting our boundaries against an onslaught of unknowns, facing a situation unlike any we have ever witnessed before. With limited resources and manpower to do their jobs, they face an uphill battle in securing what should be sacred ground- our very borders. Now, we’ve just been given word that it is even worse.
San Diego has long been a haven for human smugglers seeking the American dream for their clients. But according to a recent report from the U.S. Border Patrol, those smugglers are now taking advantage of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) in order to surveil agents on patrol along the border between San Diego and Tijuana.
Fox 5 reports, Agent Diana Ibarra, “It’s definitely become a trend here in the San Diego Sector. We’ve detected where they’re just flying along on the south side of the border. We’ve also detected them when they fly north.”
In Ibarra’s view, smuggling organizations are using drones to spy on agents.
As Ibarra and the Border Patrol pointed out, videos were recently discovered showing agents approaching and arresting migrants.
The agents claimed, “They’re gathering intelligence, they’re doing counter-surveillance on our agents, they’re trying to see our work patterns, how many agents and what they’re doing,” said Ibarra. “They’re working to try and find any possible vulnerability and exploit those.”
Here is ABC covering some of the story.
Agent Aaron M. Heitke, San Diego Sector Chief Patrol Agent said, “This technology provides transnational criminal organizations with new capability that they are eager to exploit.”
The current state of affairs at the southern United States border is increasingly worrying. Smugglers are knowingly taking advantage of a US Border Patrol that is drastically under staffed. What’s more, these criminals have exploited an ineffective administration under Biden and its open door policy for illegal immigrants. These smugglers know they have more support because of our current administration and there is nothing our border patrol can do except keep fighting like hell. Hopefully congress will send them some re-enforcement as they negotiate with their leftist peers.
