**Mother of Ashli Babbitt, Slain Air Force Veteran, Arrested Near Washington, D.C. Jail**

Michelle “Micki” Witthoeft, the mother of Ashli Babbitt, the Air Force veteran who was fatally shot by U.S. Capitol Police Lt. Michael Byrd on January 6, 2021, was arrested near the Washington, D.C., jail during a Memorial Day march. The purpose of the march was to call for an investigation into the actions that led to her daughter’s death and to honor other “unarmed memorial citizens.”

Micki Witthoeft, 58, took part in a Memorial Day march from the Capitol to the D.C. jail to honor her fallen daughter, Ashli Babbitt. Protesting with other demonstrators, they chanted her daughter’s name and called for further investigation into the circumstances of her death. Witthoeft stated that her daughter served her country for the freedom of others, even when it comes to those who choose to act disrespectfully.

As the march continued, a counter-protester known as “Anarchy Princess,” a livestreamer and Antifa protester, followed alongside those in the memorial march. This individual used a megaphone to shout obscenities at Witthoeft and other demonstrators. The tensions between Witthoeft and Anarchy Princess escalated, leading to physical confrontation between the two when Witthoeft shoved the counter-protester and threw her megaphone on the ground.

According to a police report, Anarchy Princess claimed that Witthoeft pushed her and damaged the strap on her megaphone. Consequently, police spokesperson Officer Hugh Carew said Witthoeft was arrested on charges of simple assault and destruction of property.

This is not the first time Witthoeft has faced arrest. Previously, Capitol Police apprehended her in January on the anniversary of her daughter’s death. At that time, she was attempting to lay flowers at the Capitol in Babbitt’s memory when she was accused of “illegally blocking traffic” and failing to “obey an order.” However, those charges were later dropped.

In conclusion, the mother of Ashli Babbitt continues to demand answers regarding her daughter’s death and uses her right to protest to raise awareness. Despite facing arrest during a memorial march, she remains determined to bring justice for her daughter and ensure that the circumstances surrounding her tragic end are adequately investigated.
